Novel geopolymeric material cured at room temperature
نویسنده
چکیده
Alkali activated binders are a new class of binding material with comparable or enhanced performance to Portland cement. These binding materials are obtained by a chemical reaction between an alumino-silicate material and a highly alkaline solution. In most cases, the setting-hardening process of this binder is performed at high curing temperatures. In this paper, alkali activated mortars based on Vitreous Calcium Aluminosilicate (VCAS) cured at room temperature are evaluated. Mechanical strength development and microstructural analysis (scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray diffraction and mercury intrusion porosimetry) of these materials are performed. Mortars yielded compressive strength around 89 MPa after 360 days. This is the first time that VCAS is used as alumino-silicate source material in the production of alkali activated mortars cured at room temperature.

Fly Ash-based Geopolymer Lightweight Concrete Using Foaming Agent
In this paper, we report the results of our investigation on the possibility of producing foam concrete by using a geopolymer system. Class C fly ash was mixed with an alkaline activator solution (a mixture of sodium silicate and NaOH), and foam was added to the geopolymeric mixture to produce lightweight concrete. The NaOH solution was prepared by dilute NaOH pellets with distilled water. The ...
متن کاملRoom Temperature Cured Hydrophobic Nano-silica Coatings for Outdoor Insulators Installed on Power Lines without Shutting Down the Current
The goal of the present study is to prepare a room temperature cured hydrophobic and self-cleaning nano-coating for power line insulators. As a result, the installed insulators operating in power lines can be coated without being removed from the circuit and without the need to cut off power. For this purpose, hydrophobic silica nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method using TEOS and HM...
متن کاملEffect of Lime Stone Dust on Geopolymerisation and Geopolymeric Structure
In this paper, synthesis of geopolymer from fly ash with sodium hydroxide as activator was studied. Fly ash was replaced by Lime stone dust in various proportions (10% and 15%) where Fly ash was used as source material for synthesis of geopolymer. Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions were mixed maintaining a silicate modulus (Na2O / SiO2) at 1. Scanning electron micro...
متن کاملCharacterization of Hydrogel Curing Methods for Manufacturability
In the field of soft robotics, hydrogels possess material properties that allow them to function as both soft strain sensors and electrodes for dielectric elastomer actuators. However, there is still much that needs to be understood about the curing process of hydrogels and the resulting material characteristics before devices can be reliably manufactured. In this study, we investigated the eff...
متن کاملThe Effect of Curing Temperature on the Properties of Cement Pastes Modified with TiO2 Nanoparticles
This paper investigates the effect of curing temperature on the hydration, microstructure, compressive strength, and transport of cement pastes modified with TiO₂ nanoparticles. These characteristics of cement pastes were studied using non-evaporable water content measurement, X-ray diffraction (XRD), compressive strength test, electrical resistivity and porosity measurements, and scanning elec...
